DeSoto Independent School District is proud to unveil the official 2025-2026 DeSoto Eagles Varsity Football schedule, promising another exciting football season under the leadership of Head Football Coach and DeSoto ISD Athletic Director Claude Mathis.

Coach Mathis, a highly respected figure in Texas high school football, is entering another dynamic season at the helm of the Eagles program. A former standout athlete and a seasoned coach with over 20 years of experience, Mathis has consistently guided the Eagles to playoff success, including two state championship titles during his tenure.

“We’ve got a strong core returning, and the energy around this program continues to grow every year,” said Coach Mathis. “This game gives us a great opportunity to see how far we’ve come this offseason and what our young men are capable of heading into the fall. The future is bright for DeSoto Football.”

The Eagles kick off their season with a marquee out-of-state matchup against Creekside High School in Georgia, followed by a series of competitive district and non-district games, including the highly anticipated Homecoming matchup against Waxahachie and Senior Night versus Lancaster.

Returning for the 2025 season are several standout athletes who made significant impacts in 2024 and have since drawn attention from top Division I college programs. Their leadership, combined with a talented incoming class, sets the stage for what promises to be a competitive and inspiring year for the Eagles.

As the Eagles take the field this fall, DeSoto ISD continues to prioritize the health and safety of its student-athletes with the athletic safety procedures first implemented last year. These protocols will remain in place and be expanded as needed to ensure a safe and supportive environment throughout the season.

DeSoto ISD has implemented new safety protocols for athletic events, including mandatory student ID badges for entry, metal detectors at all entrances, and restrictions on bags and backpacks. Additionally, students in grades K-8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and all students must remain seated during the game.

Key Safety Protocols:

  • Student ID Badges:
All students and staff must wear and maintain their district-issued identification badge for entry into athletic events.

  •

  • Metal Detectors:
Metal detectors are operational at every entry point.

  •

  • Bags and Backpacks:
No backpacks are allowed, but clear bags (12" x 12" x 12") and small clutch bags (8.5" x 5.5") are permitted.

  •

  • Student Supervision:
Students in grades K-8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for entry and

  • throughout the event.

  •

  • Seating:
All students must be seated during the game, and lingering in concourse areas will result in removal.

  •

  • Other Restrictions:
Students are expected to adhere to good sportsmanship and avoid disruptive behavior, including booing or using inappropriate language.

  •

  • Emergency Procedures:
Students should remain quiet, follow instructions, and refrain from using cell phones during emergency drills or actual emergencies.
