As the 2025–2026 school year approaches, DeSoto ISD is celebrating the
return of students, particularly incoming eighth graders and freshmen, who are
stepping into new academic chapters with focus, determination, and big dreams
for the future.
These rising Eagle scholars are entering a pivotal stage in their
educational journey. Eighth graders are preparing to take on leadership roles
on their middle school campuses, while freshmen are beginning their high school
careers with goals centered on academic success, college readiness, and career
exploration.
“School comes first, that’s where it starts,” said Calvin Woods, an incoming
freshman at DeSoto High School. “We all work together here. It takes
discipline.”
Woods shared that math is his favorite subject and that he hopes to continue
playing sports at the next level. His long-term ambition is to go into business
and become an entrepreneur.
Across campuses, students are sharing their hopes for the year ahead, from
improving in core subjects to earning spots on athletic teams, participating in
fine arts programs, and enrolling in advanced coursework. Many are also looking
beyond high school, expressing aspirations to become doctors, software
engineers, architects, and business owners.
“I like the programs that DeSoto has,” said Trenton Carter, also an incoming
freshman. “They let you excel in education as well as in sports.”
Carter plans to pursue business management through DeSoto High School’s Early
College program, which offers dual-credit coursework and career-focused
pathways.
DeSoto ISD remains committed to helping every student thrive by providing
access to academic support, mentorship, and a wide variety of programs tailored
to students’ individual interests and goals. As these scholars prepare to
construct their futures, the district stands ready to support and empower them
every step of the way.
Enrollment for the 2025–2026 school year is now open online at DeSotoISD.org/Enrollment.
Families are encouraged to enroll early to ensure a smooth transition into the
new academic year.
In addition, the district is hosting in-person enrollment fairs to
