DeSoto ISD Launches “i-Ready, Set, Go” Campaign to Celebrate Student Growth in Reading and Math

DeSoto Independent School District is proud to announce the
official launch of a new year of i-Ready engagement and recognitions for
students and families. Beginning September 8, 2025, i-Ready will serve
as a cornerstone of instruction and progress monitoring for K–8 students
during WIN Time (What I Need Time), with celebrations of student growth
continuing through May 22, 2026.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an adaptive online learning program in reading
and mathematics that personalizes instruction based on each student’s
strengths and areas for growth. By adjusting to students’ individual learning
levels, i-Ready provides targeted lessons, interactive practice, and ongoing
assessments that help students steadily progress toward grade-level
proficiency.
“I-Ready is more than a digital tool—it’s a pathway to
growth and confidence,” said Stephanie McCloud, DeSoto ISD chief academic officer. “By setting
clear goals, tracking progress, and celebrating achievements, we are giving
students the ability to take ownership of their learning journey.”
Student Goals & Expectations
To maximize growth, students will:
- Complete
45 minutes per week per subject (Reading and Math).
- Maintain
a lesson pass rate of 70% or higher.
- Track
their own progress toward meeting or exceeding grade-level proficiency.
Family Engagement
Families are key partners in this initiative. With access to
the i-Ready “For Families” report, parents and guardians can easily
monitor their child’s progress by logging into the i-Ready dashboard and
entering district report code M5Z65G.
“We know that when families are engaged, students achieve at
higher levels,” said Kendal Harden, DeSoto ISD parent engagement specialist.
“i-Ready gives parents a clear window into their child’s progress, making it
easy to support learning at home.”
Celebrating Growth
Throughout the school year, DeSoto ISD will host campus
and district-wide recognitions to honor students’ academic growth in
i-Ready. From classroom shoutouts to district celebrations, these events will
reinforce the culture of growth, perseverance, and Eagle pride.
“Our mission is to create a culture where students own their
growth,” said Dr. Usamah Rodgers, Superintendent of Schools. “When
students meet their i-Ready growth targets, they are on track to meet and
exceed grade-level expectations. That ownership builds confidence and ensures
long-term academic success.”
Looking Ahead
By integrating i-Ready into daily learning and celebrating
milestones along the way, DeSoto ISD is reinforcing its commitment to preparing
students for academic success in both reading and math. This initiative is a
key step in creating an environment where every student is empowered to soar
toward excellence.
