DeSoto Independent School District is offering free SAT preparation opportunities for all members of the Class of 2027 to support student readiness for the March 2026 SAT administration. In partnership with Education Is Freedom and Kaplan, the district is providing high-quality test preparation resources designed to help students strengthen skills and improve college readiness outcomes.

“Providing our students with access to high-quality academic support is essential as they prepare for college entrance exams,” said Robin Johnson-Ford, DeSoto ISD Director of Advanced Academics. “These SAT prep opportunities remove barriers to access and empower our juniors with tools that can significantly impact their postsecondary options.”

Students may register by scanning the QR code included on campus flyers or by visiting:

Upon registration, students will receive a welcome email from Kaplan at the email address provided. To avoid access issues, students are encouraged to use a personal (non-school) email address. Once enrolled, students will gain access to the Kaplan Canvas class shell to begin their SAT preparation.

Three SAT Prep Options Available

Students may select from the following preparation formats based on their learning preferences and availability:

  • Live Virtual Class Option #1
     Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
     January 3 – February 28, 2026

  • Live Virtual Class Option #2
     Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
     January 27 – March 3, 2026

  • On-Demand Option
Self-paced modules allowing students to work independently without live instruction.

The live virtual courses are Kaplan’s premier SAT preparation option and typically yield average score gains of 100–200 points for students who complete the full program. Sessions are recorded to allow flexibility for students who may miss a class.

Dr. Anita Perry, DeSoto ISD Executive Director of Counseling and College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR), emphasized the importance of early preparation. “Strong SAT performance can open doors to college admissions and scholarship opportunities,” Perry said. “By offering multiple learning formats, we are meeting students where they are and supporting their readiness for life after high school.”

DeSoto ISD encourages families and students to register as soon as possible and select the option that best aligns with their schedules and learning styles.

For additional information, families may contact the campus EIF counseling office.
