DeSoto Alternative Education Program

The DeSoto Independent School District Board of Trustees election candidate filing and voting dates have been established for the upcoming May 2026 election cycle. The school board election will be held jointly with other area elections on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Based on the standard three-year term expiration, DeSoto ISD School Board Place 3 and Place 4 and Place 5 trustee seats are included in this election cycle.

The candidate information packet, which contains the DeSoto ISD School Board Candidate application, eligibility requirements, and related information for the May 2, 2026 Joint Election, will be available for pick up during regular business hours beginning Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the DeSoto ISD Instructional Service Center (ISC), located at 200 E. Belt Line Road, DeSoto, Texas.

Interested candidates may file for a place on the ballot by in-person submission of a completed and notarized DeSoto ISD School Board Candidate Application beginning Wednesday, January 14, 2026, through Friday, February 13, 2026. Please note that all applications must be received by the filing deadline of 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026.

Key Election Dates to Remember

• January 14, 2026 – First day to file for a place on the ballot
• February 13, 2026 – Last day to file for a place on the ballot (5:00 p.m.)
• April 20, 2026 – First day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
• April 28, 2026 – Last day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
• May 2, 2026 – Election Day
