DeSoto High School’s Class of 2027 is entering the new school year with a collaborative approach to student leadership as Melicu Bray IV and Harmony Flood serve as co-class presidents.
In their shared role, Bray and Flood represent their classmates, support student-led initiatives and work together to strengthen the Class of 2027 experience. Their partnership reflects the value of collaboration and demonstrates how students can make a positive impact by working toward common goals.
“Being co-president is really about making sure our class feels heard and included,” Bray said. “Senior year is a big moment for all of us, and I want to help make it memorable while also encouraging other students to step up, get involved and find their own way to lead.”
In addition to serving as co-class president, Bray holds several leadership positions at DeSoto High School. He serves as director of student activities for the DeSoto Early College High School Student Council, captain of the DeSoto High School robotics team and president of the DeSoto High School Choral Department.
Flood said the co-president model allows them to bring different strengths and perspectives to the role while working toward common goals for their class.
“I’m excited that we get to lead together because we both bring different ideas and strengths to the table,” Flood said. “Our goal is to make senior year something the Class of 2027 can be proud of and to create more opportunities for students to have a voice in what we do as a class.”
Bray and Flood plan to continue representing their classmates, leading student initiatives and creating opportunities for members of the Class of 2027 to share their ideas and take an active role in shaping their senior-year experience.
