Cross-Curricular STEM Education
DeSoto ISD is deepening access to STEM. Educate Texas, another initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas, announced its $1.4 million investment from the Texas Instruments (TI) Foundation for STEM educational programs.
Immersive Dual Language Programs
Offered to students in PreK-5th grades at Frank Moates Elementary, the bilingual programs follow the Gomez & Gomez Framework.
Emphasis on Early Childhood Programs
Start your scholar’s learning journey at age three through the district’s full-day early childhood program available at DeSoto ISD PK-2 campuses designed to create strong educational foundations for young scholars.
Increasing Technology Access
DeSoto ISD is working to ensure every student in the district has a tech device to support learning. To support this effort, the district was granted the All-State grant which will provide a Chromebook to every sixth-grader in DeSoto ISD.
Cutting Edge Career & Technical
More Career and Technical Education programs than any other school system in the Best Southwest offering programs like Cosmetology, Engineering, Nursing and Medicine, Broadcast Journalism, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice and Law, and more. Across more than 35 CTE programs, DeSoto ISD Class of 2022 graduates earned more than 480 career certifications.
High-Performing Early College
The district houses an Early College High School that affords students the opportunity to earn an associate's degree at no cost while attending high school. ECHS' Class of 2022 received more than $4M in scholarships and more than 400 college acceptances.
Creative Fine Arts Education
Recognized as a Best Community for Music Education for six consecutive years, DeSoto ISD offers a variety of K-12 Fine Arts opportunities. Programs include high-performing and highly decorated band programs, dance, visual arts, theater, and nationally- and internally- traveled choir led by two-time Grammy-nominated Director Pam Dawson.
Highly-Competitive Athletics Programs
High-performing, highly-competitive athletics teams who’ve accumulated 20 state championships producing collegiate and professional-level athletes such as Super Bowl MVP & Denver Bronco, Von Miller, and former Dallas Cowboys, Patrick Crayton among others. More than 40 scholar-athletes received more than $3.2M in college athletic scholarships in the Class of 2022.
